In the 1970s, healthcare services on Bonaire were formalized under a foundation initially named Stichting Ziekenverpleging & Bejaarden-zorg, which was renamed Fundashon Mariadal (or Stichting Mariadal) in 1999 to honor the founding monastery. The current hospital building dates back to 1976, while expansions include the Kas di Kuido nursing home built in 2003 for intensive elderly care. The original villa now functions as the Sentro di Salú Convent health center and administrative offices.
